چکیده

The purpose of this paper is to analysis the basic aerodynamic theory of wings and the provide an introduction to wind tunnel testing. This is followed by the result from the wind tunnel testing of a NACA4412 and the analysis of the data. Lift increase at the angle of attack increase at certain point and at this point it become maximum. After that if the angle of attack is increased by further, drag become the dominant factor and the wind enters the stall mode.

Verification of a CFD solver in near ground effect for aerodynamic behavior of airfoil NACA 0015

Numerical investigation was performed on NACA 0015 which is a symmetric airfoil. Pressure distribution and then lift and drag forces are verified. Changing of ground clearance was a considerable point. Also the angle of attack was changed from 0° to 10°. Pressure coefficient reaches its higher amounts on the wing lower surface when the ground clearance diminishes. Increment of the angle of atta...

Aerodynamic Noise Computation of the Flow Field around NACA 0012 Airfoil Using Large Eddy Simulation and Acoustic Analogy

The current study presents the results of the aerodynamic noise prediction of the flow field around a NACA 0012 airfoil at a chord-based Reynolds number of 100,000 and at 8.4 degree angle of attack. An incompressible Large Eddy Simulation (LES) turbulence model is applied to obtain the instantaneous turbulent flow field. The noise prediction is performed by the Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings (FW-...

Aerodynamic Performance Enhancement of a NACA 66-206 Airfoil Using Supersonic Channel Airfoil Design

Supersonic channel airfoil design techniques have been shown to significantly reduce drag in high-speed flows over diamond shaped airfoils by Ruffin and colleagues. The effect of applying these techniques to a NACA 66-206 airfoil is presented. The design domain entails channel heights of 8-16.6% thickness-to-chord and speeds from Mach 1.5-3.0. Numerical simulations show an increase in the lift-...

Flying-Hot-Wire Study of Flow Past an NACA 4412 Airfoil at Maximum Lift

Hot-wire measurements have been made in the boundary layer, the separated region, and the near wake for flow past an NACA 4412 airfoil at mad mum lift. The Reynolds number based on chord was about 1,500,000. Special care was taken to achieve a two-dimensional mean flow. The main instrumentation was a flying hot wire; that is, a hot-wire probe mounted on the end of a rotating arm. The probe velo...

Effect of Amplitude and Mean Angle of Attack on the Unsteady Surface Pressure of a Pitching Airfoil

Details of pressure distributions, on a two dimensional airfoil oscillating in pitch through stall, in a 0.8 0.8 m low-speed wind tunnel are presented. Pitching occurred about the airfoils quarter-chord axis. Pitch rate, Reynolds number, and oscillation amplitudes were varied to determine the effects on pressure and lift distributions. It was found that mean angle of attack and pitching amplitu...
